The Final Part On The Styles
We continue with more styles up to 2020. The styles are always fresh.
2000: Face-Framing Highlights
The 2000s started to see more wearable colours and cuts like Beyonce’s wavy honey blonde hair leaving behind the crazier styles of the ‘90s.
2001: Flipped Ends
Gabrielle Union’s flipped out style was so early 2000s chic about a year after the release of Bring It On.
2002: Classic Pixie
For two reasons, Halle Berry turned heads back at the 2002 Oscars that were her epic best actress win as also her now-iconic super short pixie.
2003: Surfer Girl Curls
Being obsessed with The O.C, people naturally fell in love with copying Mischa Barton’s southern California inspired style.
2004: Side Bangs
Hilary Duff’s aesthetic was everything for those who wanted a hairstyle with plenty of edges. As Hilary was at her pinnacle, the deep side part and dark roots were trending as she starred in the last Lizzie McGuire episode and A Cinderella Story the same year.
2005: The Poof
We started seeing plenty of girls pinning back their bangs and front layers by the time Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County wrapped and then clearly no one nailed it quite as Lauren Conrad did.
2006: Angular Bob
It was the year when no one popularised the angular bob just as Victoria Beckham did coming with a severe, jaw defining, and super chic look making it a timeless style event though it really took off over a decade ago.
2007: Headbands
All the rage back in 2007 was rocking one with headbands themselves, while your hair was also in a ponytail or other updo styles.
2008: Side-Swept Pixie
At the 2008 Grammys, Rihanna showed just how versatile the pixie could be with her hairdo straight and piecey on the red carpet when she took home the Grammy for “Umbrella” with her hair curly and voluminous.
2009: Ringlets
When Taylor Swift skyrocketed to fame, countless women embraced their bouncy curls.
2010: The Perfect Blowout
It was shown to the world by Jennifer Lopez that going subtle could still be glamourous and all you need to do was add a little curl at the end with a brush after getting the hair blown out straight.
2011: Half Up, Half Down
When she tied the knot with Prince William, all eyes were on Kate Middleton and we kept watching the couple on their North American Tour shortly after. It was then that her go-to half-up hairstyle was going royally mainstream.
2012: Top Knots
Wearing some sort of top knot this year, was about every A-list celebrity as the top knots would, later on, become a bit smaller and messier.
2013: Retro Fringe
Well then, who was that girl? Often credited for the return of this more retro-inspired bang were Zooey Deschanel as well as her New Girl character Jess.
2014: Ombre
Beyoncé left our mouths agape as a near-constant trendsetter as she arrived at the 2014 Grammys with this dark-to-light ombre hair colour.
2015: High Pony
On this list again is Beyoncé, well, because she’s Beyoncé. For nearly every major red carpet, this year, the queen wore her hair in a pony whereas with this high in the sky look, she showed up to the Met Gala and we followed suit the very next day.
2016: Lob
Thereafter we learned that you didn’t have to choose between long and short hair in 2016 as the emergence of the lob, short for long bob got the best of both worlds.
2017: Short Crop
Katy Perry was one of them as people were making severe changes to their hair in 2017 where she showed up to an event in Paris Fashion Week realising that she was hair twins along with Cara Delevingne.
2018: Messy Bun
Here we are never again talking about the messy bun worn by Meghan Markle with tousled hair as perfectly imperfect when tied together in a low bun.
2019: Blunt Cut Bob
With a modern twist, the 1920’s trend came back this year with a clean and sleek finish as the modern iteration of this chin-length cut like the one modeled by the singer DuaLipa.
2020: Neon Hair
Seemingly out of nowhere with her dreamy musical sound as also her brightly rooted neon hair was pop star Billie Eilish as more and more folks try out the colourful look seeming like this trend isn’t going anywhere.
The Final Thoughts
As the write up is drawn to a close here, there are promising hairstyles to be tried out in the years ahead. Each year brings a new style and keeping in mind, it is possible they are the most exciting and adventurous to have experimented.
