Cleanser: Soap Or Non-Soap?

Stripping away the natural moisturising oils in your skin are harsh detergents in soap. It ends up causing dryness, irritation, and inflammation. Working on your skin the same way as soap does, soap-free cleansers are made of milder ingredients that don’t deplete skin’s oils.

What To Look For In A Face Cleanser

Consider a gentle cleanser with added moisturisers when you have dry skin. It should be noted that after cleansing, the skin feels soft and smooth. Try a different one if the cleanser makes your skin feel too dry, tight, or irritated. If you have dry skin, avoid cleansers with salicylic or glycolic acid.

What To Avoid In A Face Cleanser?

Look for a cleanser that is free of fragrance, chemicals, or alcohol in addition to steering clear of harsh soaps. It is better to avoid those antibacterial soaps as they can be drying. On whether you should use or avoid cleansers with exfoliants such as glycolic acid ask your doctor. Working for different people are different types of cleansers.

Water And Dry Skin

They can also dry it out by removing the skin’s natural oils as showers and baths add moisture to your skin. Faster than warm water, hot water washes away oil faster. When you cleanse your face use warm water as also limit yourself to one short warm shower or bath as day about five minutes. While you bathe, close the bathroom door to keep the room humid.

Skip The Scrubbers

Here is the good news: you can forget about buying expensive daily face scrubs or scrubbers if you have dry skin. You can forget scrubbing altogether in fact. Whereas it can irritate the skin with rubbing and scrubbing. It can be irritating when friction from washing with a sponge or washcloth. The convenient way to gently wash your face is with your hands. Using a cotton round is also suggested.

Dampen Your Hands And Face

Wash them first as you are cleansing with your hands. Further on dampen the face and hands with tepid water. To work up a good lather, don’t concern yourself with using enough water. It may not lather much if you are using mild cleansers. It is important to keep in mind that the goal is to have skin that is smooth and supple and not squeaky clean.

Use A Light Touch For Cleansing

When it comes to washing dry skin, more is not better. Firstly, squeeze just a quarter-size dollop of cleanser into your palm and thereby apply it evenly to the face. Using circular motions, then gently massage it into your skin with your fingertips. Around your eyes, be especially gentle. Even with your fingers, remember not to scrub.

Pat, Don’t Rub, Your Face Dry

By rubbing your skin dry don’t ruin the perfect face cleansing. Leading to irritation and inflammation, rubbing can cause abrasion to your skin. Instead of this rinse the face with tepid water and later patting it with a clean, dry cotton towel or washcloth. The idea is to leave some moisture for your moisturiser to lock in and don’t dry it all the way.

Go Easy On Exfoliation

Allowing moisturisers to better penetrate your skin, exfoliation removes dead skin cells. Exfoliate no more than once a week as abrasive scrubs can damage dry skin. It is always better to avoid fruit scrubs as they can be harsh. Try a scrub with rice enzymes or papain instead. A safe way to exfoliate and gentle are these ingredients. Whereas it never hurts when exfoliating. Stop or try a gentler product if it does.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Not adding moisture to the skin are moisturisers. As it doesn’t evaporate they seal in existing water. Two or three times a day you can moisturise. This 3-minute rule can help you: within 3 minutes of your nightly cleansing and morning rinse apply moisturiser. It is not necessary to rinse or cleanse first if you apply moisturiser again during the day.

What To Look For In A Moisturizer

More effective than lotions for dry skin are creams and oils. Drawing water into the outer skin layer is humectants such as glycerine and propylene glycol. Trapping water in the skin by forming a layer on its surface are emollients like petroleum, lanolin, mineral oil, and dimethicone. They are one of the best treatments for dry skin as occlusives like petroleum jelly act as a barrier and trap moisture.

What To Avoid In A Moisturizer?

It is always better to avoid moisturisers that contain fragrances. It may be irritating to sensitive, dry skin when it comes to some ingredients such as retinol. Firstly, rub a tiny amount on your forearm for a few days to test a facial moisturiser. Don’t use it if it stings, burns, itches, or feels dry.
