The French braid is a classic hairstyle which has been around for a quite lot of years now. It is a timeless hairstyle which can be worn in two variations and is just right for a second-day hair. For the beginners, it may look a bit complicated at first to achieve on themselves. But, in reality, French braid is effortless and straightforward to learn. As the saying goes, “practice makes perfect.” All you need is a bit of practice for mastering a French braid. We will discuss how to do a French braid in a step by step manner below.

Step 1:

To begin with, take a section of your hair from the top and divide it into three equal parts, namely left, middle, and right.

Step 2:

Now take the left section, span it over the middle section, and join it with the right part.

Step 3:

Now take the right section, span it over the middle section, and join it with the left part.

Step 4:

Repeat step 2. For this, you have to take the left section, span it over the middle section, and join it with the right part. Now repeat step 3. For this, you have to take the right part, span it over the middle section, and join it with the left part. All you have to do is continue this pattern down. That’s all there is to it as far as the French braid technique is concerned.

Step 5:

Once you arrive at the nape of your neck, repeating the technique mentioned above, you can switch to the standard three-strand braid style until you reach the end of your hair.

Once you master French braid, there are many hairstyles you can try with this braid. French braid will look more voluminous and full if you pull on the sides to inflate it. You can also try hair extensions with this hairstyle if you feel you need more thickness and length to your braid.
